We can proudly state that our sheep’s cheese Gran Reserva 10 Months has reached the pinnacle of excellence by receiving the Gran Cincho de Oro at the Cincho Awards 2024, one of the most prestigious competitions in the sector. This award, reserved for only three cheeses worldwide, establishes this variety as an absolute benchmark for its aromatic complexity and mature flavor, the result of a meticulous aging process.

A historic edition for the Peñaranda cheesery

As if that were not enough, our joy was not limited to the top prize. The cheesery also won two Gold Cinchos:

  • For the Winter Aged 2 Years, distinguished for its robust structure and aromatic profile, reflecting its 24 months of patient maturation.
  • For the Mixed-Milk Semi-Cured, recognized for its authentic flavor and balanced texture.

With these three awards, the Peñaranda firm consolidates its name among the greats of the world’s cheesemaking industry.

An international benchmark competition

The Cincho Awards 2024, organized by the Junta de Castilla y León, brought together 1,221 samples from 334 companies from 16 countries. The awards ceremony took place at the Royal Monastery of San Zoilo in Carrión de los Condes (Palencia), with the participation of more than 60 professional tasters from ten countries.

]]> The passion for artisan cheese from our region arrived this Wednesday at Madrid Fusión, Spain’s most influential international gastronomy congress. There, Quesos Carlos Navas had the honor of offering a tasting session featuring some of our specialties within the program organized by Salamanca en bandeja, the gastronomic club promoted by the Provincial Council of Salamanca.

Our master cheesemaker, Carlos Navas, shared the stage with the Provincial Deputy for Tourism, Juan Carlos Zaballos, who stated in an interview with COPE Peñaranda that “the Provincial Council of Salamanca brings our finest gastronomy to Madrid Fusión to promote it and make it known.”

An international showcase for Spanish cuisine

Madrid Fusión brings together each year in the capital some of the most prestigious chefs from Spain and around the world. This edition focused on the reasons that made Spanish cuisine shine three decades ago, highlighting the role of innovation and tradition in contemporary gastronomy.

Three awards for three of our finest cheeses

In this edition, Quesos Carlos Navas achieved:

  • Gold Medal for our Grand Reserve Aged Cheese.

  • Bronze Medal for our Aged Sheep’s Cheese.

]]> Quesos Carlos Navas showcased its products at the Gustoko 2022 Fair, held in Bilbao from March 4 to 6, under the umbrella of the gastronomic promotion club “Salamanca en bandeja” of the Provincial Council of Salamanca, which brought together eleven agri-food companies associated with this quality label. After its participation in the 2020 edition, which hosted seven companies from the province, this time the presence increased to eleven members sharing a stand.

Following the success of the 2020 edition, which brought together seven companies from the province, this time the presence grew significantly, with eleven members having at their disposal a stand of 80 square meters, divided into two clearly defined areas.

The first multipurpose space was dedicated both to promoting Salamanca as a gastronomic destination and to hosting various business meetings scheduled with managers and purchasing heads from gourmet channels, hotels, specialty stores and major retailers in Northern Spain — an area of vital importance for the commercialization of our province’s products.

The second day was dedicated to direct sales to the final public, with each of the participating companies having its own counter.

The companies associated with “Salamanca en bandeja” that took part in this new promotional action were: Jamones Faustino Prieto, Soleae, Hergaher Morcillas y Farinatos, Obleas Pan de Ángel, Río de la Miel, Patatas Fritas Fátima, Quesos Amado Charra, Quesos de Hinojosa, Quesos Carlos Navas, Bodega Julián Madruga and Bodega Dominio de la Sierra.

For its part, Gustoko 2022 offered a wide program of parallel activities including professional tastings, showcookings, tastings and pairings, product and tourism presentations, talks and demonstrations of gastronomy, folklore and crafts.

The third edition of the Gustoko Fair closed its doors with record numbers: more than 300 producers and 12,000 visitors came together throughout the weekend, at a Bilbao Exhibition Centre (BEC) transformed for the occasion into a large marketplace.

The congress will feature the presence of renowned international chefs in line with emerging trends, including René Redzepi, Gastón Acurio, Alex Atala, Dabiz Muñoz, Joan Roca, Rasmus Munk and Antonia Klugmann, among others.

]]> The constant pursuit of quality in our products has been rewarded in the best possible way with two recognitions at the prestigious global competition World Cheese Awards, held in November 2018 in Norway, where we were participating for the first time.

The sheep’s cheese variety Semi-Cured earned the Silver Seal, while the mixed-milk cheese Aged received the Bronze Seal at the aforementioned competition, where a total of 3,472 cheeses from 41 countries competed.

The jury was made up of a committee of 230 experts (retailers, buyers, consumers and food journalists) from 29 countries.

We have long been striving for the highest quality in our products, and these awards reaffirm our commitment to excellence. We are already present in international markets such as Germany, France and Portugal, and of course in the leading restaurants of the national market.

Here we are — the entire “Navas family” at Salamanca’s Plaza Mayor, on the occasion of the event organized by Hotel Don Mauro, which brought together some of the leading companies in the food sector of the region. The exhibition, part of the 2015 Ferias y Fiestas program, attracted a large audience and specialized press.

Visitors to the stand enjoyed tasting our cheeses and some recipes specially prepared for the occasion.

The event lasted well into the night, with a growing influx of people filling the square and enjoying an unbeatable festive atmosphere while sampling the delicious products.
